History of MACF

Mid Atlantic Car Fest was born in 2021 from an ambitious idea: fly to Florida, buy a car, compete in a track night, then drive back up the East Coast, stopping for an autocross event along the way. But logistics and life got in the way, and the concept seemed out of reach.

In 2022, everything aligned for a weekend in October, turning the idea from a group chat concept into reality. Four young men came together to compete, starting with a track night at Dominion Raceway, followed by a drag race test and tune at Cecil County, and wrapping up with two autocross events.

Momentum grew quickly — 2023 saw 13 competitors, and by 2024, the event had expanded to 20 participants from five states. From a rough concept to a thriving event, Mid Atlantic Car Fest has become a celebration of car culture and competition, driven by passion and community.

Recap

2022

The first Mid Atlantic Car Fest took place from October 6-9, 2022, with four competitors: Jared McGahen, Chris Brown, Alex Pankiw, and David Myers. The route featured a track night at Dominion Raceway, a test and tune at Cecil County Dragway, an autocross with Brandywine Motorsports Club, and another autocross at Mid State Airport.

Chris Brown secured the first-ever victory despite a tough drag race, and the idea of the event quickly caught on with others looking to participate the next year.

2023

In 2023, the event kicked off again at Dominion Raceway, this time with 13 competitors, including the winners of our first free entry raffle. Favorites included returning champions Chris Brown and David Myers, along with newcomer Eric Peachey.

A major upgrade was renting out Mason Dixon Dragway for a private drag racing session, followed by autocross events at Mid State Airport and Mohegan Sun Arena. Eric took an early lead and maintained it, despite breaking an axle before the final event and finishing in a borrowed Miata.

2024

2024 marked a big leap for Mid Atlantic Car Fest, with 20 competitors from five states and a new challenge: the oval track at Dominion Raceway. Drivers got two sessions to complete their fastest laps on the 4/10 mile oval before moving to the traditional track night, where most ran in a single group.

Next came a private drag racing session at Mason Dixon Dragway, followed by a scenic drive through the mountains to Mid State Airport. The final day featured a new event: track sprints at Pocono Raceway, offering quick blasts on the North portion of the track.

The results saw Justin Peachey take first place, Scott Bowers second, and Pete Bruschi securing third after a tight five-way battle. The event wrapped up with an awards ceremony and a podium presentation, celebrating another successful year.
